LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Thursday January 29 2015. The SUSPEND team was out in full force with myself, Kayla Reefer (Staff Photographer), and Jonathan Tate (Staff Photographer) in attendance along with The Juice Daily's Nneoma Akubuilo as well as Leslie Corpuz of The NBTWN. Eyes ready, we feasted aisle-by-aisle at Printed Matter's LAABF at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Equipped with cash and an empty tote bag, I maneuvered my way through bodies of fellow zine-hungry attendees, as my team and I tried our best to give due attention to each vendor's display of rare collectible art/photo zines, out-of-print books, and typography laden posters for sale. Noticeable big-name publishers were in attendance such as Juxtapoz and Giant Robot, but for the most part, we spent our time befriending and perusing the tables of independent publishers - some visiting as far as Singapore and Spain - to take part in the annual book fair since its launch in 2013. We ran into familiar SUSPEND faces along the way, including photographer and featured ISSUE 04 artist, Estevan Oriol, who did a special autograph signing of his L.A. Portraits book.
